The makings of a serial killer

It was another hot afternoon, nothing delightful showing on regular programming, fortunately mom said she had a couple of new movie uploads at the hard drive. Scanning thru the titles I saw STOKER. Hmmm could it be something about vampires ? As in Bram Stroker LOL. The movie started slow, progressed to even slower but still . . . the lineup of celebrity was not to be ignored, it featuresNicole Kidman  & Mia Wasikowska of Alice in Wonderland, the latest version my daughter
is crazy about starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hater.
So goes the reel. The story starts : During her 18th birthday, India Stoker's (Mia Wasikowska) life is turned upside down after her loving father Richard (Dermot Mulroney) dies in a horrific car accident. India is then left with her estranged unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). At Richard's funeral, Evelyn and India are introduced to Richard's charming and charismatic brother Charlie (Matthew Goode), who has spent his life traveling the world. He then announces that he is staying indefinitely to help support India and Evelyn, much to Evelyn's delight and India's chagrin.
As it turns out, Charlie murdered his and Richard's younger brother Jonathan as a child because he was jealous that Richard paid more attention to him over Charlie. Charlie was then locked in a mental institution for several years. When released on India's 18th birthday, Richard gave Charlie a car, a generous amount of money, and an apartment in New York to cut off ties with him and prevent him from meeting India. Feeling hurt and betrayed, Charlie beat Richard to death with a rock and staged the car accident. So why didn’t he want India to meet Charlie ? Cause very year, Charlie would send India a pair of shoes for her birthday, she has all 17 pairs of them. The game was, on her birthday she would go around their opulent dwelling and search for this present. She wore those shoes every single day until her next birthday. Spooky !!!
Then there’s the hunting, her father will bring her hunting every afternoon after school, he said that it is much better to do “this” to prevent her from doing something worse. You’d think that the dad already has an inkling that India would turn Psycho huh ? He would then have the animals she shot & killed stuffed and displayed in his office.
So upon checking out the mental institute Charlie took care of Richard, then Mrs. McGarrick (Phyllis Somerville), the head caretaker of the house, who has been his accomplice in the birthday gift game. Then India's great aunt Gwendolyn (Jacki Weaver) who arrives to visit the family after hearing of Richard’s death. She was in shock to see Charlie there & wanted to speak to Evelyn in private. To make the long story short, Charlie hunted her down & killed her too. Lastly, Whip Taylor (Alden Ehrenreich) India’s classmate whom she misled, YES she misled him into thinking she wanted to “do” it but then turned him down. Too late, teenage hormones at boiling point, make out accelerated into rape BUT Uncle Charlie was so conveniently around to again – kill Whip while he was on top of India none the less.
I knew that she was going to turn psycho, Why ? Cause the dead bodies she discovered didn’t bother her ! 911 wasn’t even in her mind, instead she has an “orgasm” remembering the choking Whip on top of her L
SO finally Charlie decides to kill Evelyn her mom, thinking India would help him. Wrong ! India shot him instead & simply left a drunkard Nicole Kidman as she moves on with her life taking Charlie’s place in New York as her father has prepared.
As She was speeding waya, she was pulled over for speeding by Sheriff Howard, who then asks her why she's in a hurry. India replies that she wanted to catch his attention, then plunges a pair of garden shears into his neck. India pursues the wounded sheriff into a field to dispatch him with her rifle. VICTIM NO 1 and counting.
Hmmm so now we know how the serial killer in colleges started, they started early at home AND it’s hereditary. All in all the movie was OK, kept you guessing what it’s all about. Made you listen intently. And you could never guess the ENDING. Good Movie :)
